Alexandra Palace XC race report

The 4th and penultimate LCL cross-country race is usually extremely popular in the post-Christmas holiday season and took place this year on the last Wednesday of January at Alexandra Park. Despite the cold and the mist, the conditions were ideal for great performances for both women’s 4K and men’s 6K. With no surprise, Emma Dixon, representing the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), took the lead completing the race in 17:15. Wimbledon Common LCL Race Report

King’s College London organised the third LUCA LCL cross-country race, which took place on Wednesday 16th of November 2016. Around two hundred students ran the Wimbledon Common XC course, which also incorporated the University of London (UL) and University Hospitals (UH) Championships. The female racers completed a ~5km hilly and muddy lap, while the male competitors ran two laps. With both female and male teams crowned UL Champs, UCL displayed very solid performances. Mitcham Common LCL race report

Last Wednesday, LUCA runners took on the second of the LCL Cross Country meets. The conditions were perfect for great performances on the hills of Mitcham Common. The sun was out, the terrain was not too wet or hard, and the competition was fierce. Ladies completed two 3km laps, while the men had 3 laps to run. LUCA Awards Ceremony 2016

The 2016 LUCA awards ceremony took place on the evening of 29th May, allowing athletes to recover from the finale of LCAS at Battersea the previous day. In the setting of Imperial College Union, athletes turned out in force to celebrate the achievements and hard word of the numerous athletes, volunteers and teams that have contributed to LUCA over the year. UCL Claim LCAS Title

UCL staged a remarkable comeback to overturn Essex’ lead and win their first LCAS title. The champions were 23 points behind Essex going into the final, but finished the day on 526 compared to Essex’ 489. Reigning champions, King’s claimed their highest points haul but had to settle for second with 505 points. The weather was bright and spirits were high among all 9 teams that took part. BUCS Outdoor Champs Report

BEDFORD London clubs showed their strength with a total haul of 22 medals. UEL topped the London BUCS medal table with 3 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze. However, Brunel were placed higher then any other LUCA club by finishing 6th in the combined team ranking. It was also the first time that Essex and King’s College had sent teams to the championships.
