LUCA is the home of university athletics and running in London, the East and South East.
We bring university clubs together to create better competition, stronger communities and more opportunities for students to take part in athletics, from first-time runners to BUCS finalists.
Founded in 2015, LUCA grew out of the historic University of London athletics competitions. Today, we organise championships, leagues and events across cross-country, indoor athletics, outdoor track and field, road relays and more.
Our role is simple: to make university athletics better, bigger and more connected.
What we do
LUCA works with student clubs, alumni, officials, coaches and partner organisations to support university athletics across the region.
We:
- organise high-quality university competitions
- maintain records, results and athlete rankings
- support clubs with fixtures, information and development
- create opportunities for students to volunteer, officiate and lead
- connect universities with the wider athletics community
- champion inclusive, student-centred sport
Whether you are chasing a PB, trying cross-country for the first time, helping run your club, or returning as an alumnus, LUCA exists to make university athletics feel exciting, welcoming and worth being part of.
Our Vision
We want athletics and running to become one of the most visible, accessible and exciting sports in university life.
That means more competitions, better events, stronger clubs, clearer pathways into coaching and officiating, and a bigger community that students want to stay connected to after graduation.
LUCA’s long-term aim is to build a sustainable, inclusive and ambitious university athletics ecosystem across London, the East and South East.
