LUCA is pleased to announce the upcoming fixtures for the Cross Country League and the Indoor Championships. The new season could be LUCA’s biggest yet, with new clubs joining the league. UEA and University of Kent have both affiliated with LUCA and other clubs in the home counties are expected to join soon. The cross country league will remain four races – two in each semester. Outdoor Season announced

LUCA is announcing a revamped outdoor schedule for 2023. LUCA will host a pre-BUCS open meet in March and a championship event in June. These events replace the three-meet LUCA Outdoor Series, which saw athletes compete for points across three events in March, April and May. The pre-BUCS Open Meet will be held on 26th March at Battersea. This event is aimed at all current university students to prepare for BUCS outdoors which is held across 29 April to 1 May. King’s retain indoors title

Lateefah Agberemi’s dominant display in the sprints and jumps earned King’s a second successive indoors title. King’s pipped Imperial to the title by 13 points, with 16 points coming from Agberemi. The joint record points haul (tied with LSE’s Yasmin Lakin in 2016-17) earned Agberemi the prestigious LUCA MVP award along with gold medals in the 60m, 60mH, long and triple jump. LUCA is pleased to announce the fixtures for the Cross Country League and the Indoor Championships. The format of the Cross Country league has slightly changed from previous seasons. This years addition will consist of four races with an athletes best three results contributing to their league standing. At an extraordinary general meeting held last week, club representatives voted to make changes to the committee and competition structure. LUCA has been dealing with a budget crisis caused by pandemic-related competition suspension and a steep decline in active volunteers. The EGM was called by the only two currently active committee members, Christian Pugsley and Abhilash Sivaraman. Brunel have won their first LUCA title to become Indoor Champions. The west London university – known for its sporting excellence – is the first institution outside of the University of London to win the LUCA Indoor Championships.
