London Students’ Run: Two Months To Go!

LSrun

London Students' Run 2016

This December, London Universities and Colleges Athletics (LUCA) is hosting the first ever London Students’ 5 & 10K run.

Taking place on December 4th, the two fun races will start and finish outside the London Stadium, former host of London 2012 and now home to West Ham United, by the iconic ArcelorMittal Orbit in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. To be outside an arena that has held some of the greatest athletics spectacles ever will certainly be something!

You will be running through the Parklands, a route that is part of “111 acres of open space including gardens full of flowering plants, broad meadows and intricate wetlands”.

If you are relatively new to the sport, then this is a fantastic opportunity to run your first 5 or 10k. For more experienced runners, perhaps this is a chance for you to grab a new personal best?

Interested? Here’s all you need to know about the event:

When?
Sunday 4th December 2016.

Where?
Start area and registration location: ArcelorMittal Orbit (giant red structure directly outside the London Stadium). Race address: Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London E20 2ST.

Start Times?
5k @ 9.30am

10k @ 10.30am

Sign-in On The Day?
All pre-entries will be assigned a number and chip to be collected on the day. To collect these, make your way to the registration desk at the ArcelorMittal Orbit at the below allocated times.

5k – 8.45am – 9.15am

10k – 9am – 10:15am.

It will take around 15 minutes to collect your number and drop your bag off. The earlier you get there, the more efficient we will be on the day. You will only need one number attached to the front of your shirt. If you have your own pins then that would be great but we will have supplies if needed.

How much?

Both races will cost £15 to register for.

Baggage?
We will have a secure area where you can leave your baggage, but we recommend you bring as little baggage as possible. We have tear off baggage labels that can be attached to your bag. To collect your bag at the end of the race, all you have to do is hand over your number to the baggage tent staff and they will help you find your baggage. We take no responsibility for lost or stolen bags.

Facilities?
There are many toilets on site. If you are likely to need to use facilities prior to the race start, please ensure you leave plenty of time. Please come in your running gear as changing facilities are limited. There will be water at the 5k point and at the finish. We have fruit and flapjacks for you to enjoy after the race. There are also a number of cafes/food vendors on site.

Photography?
We will have a photographer taking a few snaps of the race and this will be published on Facebook after the race, so be sure to check out the event page afterwards and see if you can spot yourself.

So there you have it – an event to train for, to have fun at and an opportunity to compete around one of the world’s most famous stadiums!
