Goldsmiths Athletics Club has won Best New Club at the Goldsmiths Student Union Awards. The revitalized club has been building steadily since the start of the academic year. Once a dominating force in London University athletics, Goldsmiths had been in decline over the last decade. But under the leadership of Sheriffah Arewa, the club has now been recognised for its development and growth. Changes to the Cross-Country League

The LUCA Cross-Country League will trial a new results system this season. Previously known as the London Colleges League (LCL), the LUCA Cross-Country League will trial a ‘parkrun’ style results system in the 2017-18 season. This will require all athletes to register on the LUCA website before racing. Athletes only need to register once throughout their time at university. LUCA athletes excel at BUCS Outdoor Championships

The May bank holiday weekend brought much excitement for student athletics in the form of the BUCS outdoor athletics championships. There were spectacular performances from students around the UK, including new records in the Pole Vault (well done to Adam Hague with 5.35m), Hammer (well done to Taylor Campbell of Loughborough with 73.40m), as well as both the seated discus and shot put for Vanessa Wallace (F34) and Stacie Gaston (F57) in their respective categories.
