LCAS and the cross country London Colleges League (LCL) will join together to form the London Universities and Colleges Athletics Association (LUCA), which will manage both competitions from the start of the 15/16 season. London will become the first city in the UK to have it’s own regional university-specific athletics body, which will have responsibilties beyond organizing the LCL and LCAS. King’s College London have won the first ever London Colleges Athletics Series at the final in Battersea, The third and final LCAS Grand Prix was a tense affair for series founders King’s College and Imperial College London – both of whom were in touching distance of the series title. Boosted by the presence of GB junior international, Laviai Neilsen, King’s took advantage of an inspired team and won the title. The London Inter Club Challenge (LICC) and the newly founded London Colleges Athletics Series (LCAS) have pleasure in announcing that they have agreed to promote their next events jointly at Lee Valley Athletics Centre on SUNDAY 19 APRIL. LICC and LCAS, are both supported by England Athletics, and will be working together to stage this highly innovative meeting which is estimated will attract over 350 athletes. At LCAS, we thought long and hard about the name of the series and our logo. We wanted a logo that reflected the values of the new league and respected the history of its origins. LCAS is the track and field equivalent of the XC London Colleges League (LCL) that runs between October and February. Whilst the word ‘colleges’ in the name of the series may cause some initial confusion, it is a reference to the LCL that initially included the constituent colleges of the federal University of London.
