LUCA and London Athletics are proud to announce the LUCA 4 X 1 Mile trophy relay event at the first ever London Community Games at Mile End Stadium on Sunday 7th August. Motspur founders meeting this week

Alumni and students will gather at Student Central on Wednesday to establish the creation of a new alumni club. In June, LUCA announced plans to create an alumni club and launched a new website; motspurac.com. The new club is designed to cater for students over the summer season and strengthen the community by providing for alumni.  Students and alumni are invited to Student Central, Mallet Street, on Wednesday at 7pm to confirm plans and elect a new committee. Alumni Club Launched

LUCA has established an alumni club for all graduates of a university affiliated with the organisation. The new club will be called ‘Motspur Athletics Club’ in honor of the former University of London Athletics Stadium; Motspur Park. In order to signify that all former club members (and not just those of the University of London) can join Motspur AC, the club’s crest includes the waves of the Greater London crest. Motspur will be an ‘online club’ and will allow members to continue their connection with the university athletics scene in London. […]

UCL Claim LCAS Title

UCL staged a remarkable comeback to overturn Essex’ lead and win their first LCAS title. The champions were 23 points behind Essex going into the final, but finished the day on 526 compared to Essex’ 489. Reigning champions, King’s claimed their highest points haul but had to settle for second with 505 points. The weather was bright and spirits were high among all 9 teams that took part. Clubs prepare for final athletics clash

The final LCAS is this Saturday. Essex Blades lead UCL by 23 points. Current holders, Kings are 33 points behind. A revised timetable and entries list is now live. The Blades opened up a shock lead at the first meet by demonstrating their large team were capable of some impressive performances. LUCA Launch alumni club

LUCA is launching an alumni club. The new athletics club will be open to to alumni of athletics clubs that are affiliated with LUCA. LUCA is seeking the feedback of current and past members via an online feedback form. Current proposals include the name ‘Motspur Athletics Club’ which has been voted on by the LUCA council. Motspur Park was the home of the University of London Athletics Stadium from 1928-1999. Supported by the Daily Telegraph Sports Desk, the project will bring a vibrant mix of reviews, nutritional advice, meet reports, interviews and more to the website. The news section will also provide coverage of the Olympic and Paralympic games. Applications are now open and more information can be found here. BUCS Outdoor Champs Report

BEDFORD London clubs showed their strength with a total haul of 22 medals. UEL topped the London BUCS medal table with 3 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze. However, Brunel were placed higher then any other LUCA club by finishing 6th in the combined team ranking. It was also the first time that Essex and King’s College had sent teams to the championships.
