London Students’ Run is back!

The London Students’ Run will return on the 25th March 2018. The run, which includes both a 5K and 10K option will be held in Victoria Park. The London Students’ Run is a mass participation run organised by LUCA. Both runs are open to people of all abilities and are chip timed. Runners need to register for the run here online. Bowden and Olley selected for European Cross Country Champs

British Athletics has today announced a full team of 40 athletes selected to represent the country at the European Cross Country Championships in Samorin, Slovakia on Sunday 10 December. The team includes Brunel student Philippa Bowden and Imperial student Chris Olley. Bowden has impressed in her first season in the LUCA Cross-Country league, winning all three races so far. Indoor Champs are over, but the real race is just about to begin. An honest question, are you a true London student athlete if you haven’t taken on the ULAC Beer Mile? That’s right, it’s back. UCL win double (again), George’s claim UH shield

UCL made it three years in a row to win the LUCA Indoor Championship. With a margin of 5 points over King’s and 6 points over Imperial, UCL won the David Morgan cup for the third time in a row. They also won the University of London Intercollegiate championship. The competition also included the 150 Anniversary of the UH Shield. The newly re-formed St George’s won the competition with 44 points. A full report and pictures will follow. All results now online here and on powerof10 later today.

150 years of United Hospitals Athletics

Before the modern Olympic movement there was the United Hospitals Athletics Club (UHAC). UHAC itself may no longer be operational, but the United Hospitals Athletics Championships which it organised are still very much alive. On May 31, 1867, the UHAC was formed at the West Brompton running grounds by Mr S Edwin Jolly. Indoor champs timetable change

Due to the record breaking number of entries, the indoor championships timetable has been revised. The event will last approximately two hours longer than planned to accommodate the unexpectedly large number of competitors. Indoors: Donate your old running gear to Uganda

Athletes are being encouraged to donate their old running gear at LUCA Indoors. A donation point will be available at Lee Valley this Saturday for students to drop off old athletics gear. LUCA will ship donated items to the Namakwa Athletics Club in Uganda. Namakwa athletics club is a school based running club which currently has 52 runners. The club scouts for needy and talented runners in Uganda to educate, feed, accommodate and develop their talents. The club is managed by teacher, coach and athlete, Mukasa Edward. Record number of entries to indoor championships

A record number of 276 athletes have entered LUCA Indoor Championships. In total, 24 clubs will be represented, including 14 guest athletes and 3 alumni. 586 individual event entries have been made. This beats last years record of 240 athletes. King’s are the largest team with 60 athletes. Imperial are covering the most events with 187 individual events entered. 17 men’s and 10 women’s 4X200 teams have been entered.
