BUCS XC: Everything you need to know and bring

The 2017 edition of BUCS Cross-Country is being held in Sheffield this Saturday.

Students will travel from Universities across the United Kingdom to compete.

The championships include three races: the men’s long (10,360m), men’s short (8,180m) and women’s Long race (7,380m). Athletes can only race in one race.

We’ve collated all the information you need to know to have a memorable day.

What you need to bring (probably)

Spare clothes (warm!) Clothes for clubbing
Lots of layers (warm!) Medications / inhaler if required
Waterproofs Money / change for taxis
Bin bags and plastic bags ID
Spare shoes Phone & charger
Snacks and drinks GPS watch if you own one

Venue

Graves Park. Head to the Pavilion, near Cobnar road S8 8QA

Registration

Team captains need to complete a declaration form and submit it to the registration tent before the deadlines below.

Registration desks are open from 9.30am

The last time to declare athletes is:
Men’s Long Race: 11.30
Women’s Long Race: 12.30
-Men’s Short Race: 13.30

Declaration forms should be completed before arrival at registration and can be downloaded here. Names should be listed as they appear in the entry list (101, 105, 107, not 107, 101, 105).

Substitutions are not allowed.

Race Numbers

All numbers are listed online (Men’s here: Women’s here). These numbers are to be worn on the FRONT.

Start

A warning will be given five minutes before the start of each race. Team Managers must marshal their teams to the start line at the time of the five minute warning. All races will start at the stated times unless the race referee deems a minor delay is necessary due to the overrunning of previous races.

Presentations

Will take place in the marquee. This will take place upon completion of the final race (approx 3.30pm).

Facilities

Limited changing and shower facilities will be available in the park pavilion. There will be a large marquee for shelter. Bags can be left in the marquee but this is at your own risk. This area is not constantly manned. BUCS cannot accept responsibility for loss or damage to personal property.
There will be portable toilets for athlete and spectator use near to the race start/finish.
