The RVC Hawkshead Hobble is back

March 17, 2018 James Findon

The RVC Hawkshead Hobble is back. Challenge yourself on either the 5km or 10km trail routes that will lead you through the undulating, bluebell filled woods surrounding the RVC’s Hawkshead Campus.   Held on Sunday 8th of April, the profits made from this event will be divided between two incredible charities: Nowzad, a volunteer run charity who provide care and shelter for animals caught in war zones. One of their many amazing projects involves reuniting soldiers with strays they adopted whilst out on the front line. Our second charity, the […]

IMPORTANT: Due to the adverse weather forecast for tomorrow, we have made the decision to CANCEL tomorrow’s LUCA Outdoor Series meet at Parliament Hill. We have been in constant communication with Parliament Hill to try and find ways to reduce the risk associated with the ice, snow and high winds that have been forecast. Regrettably, we have been unable to find ways of reducing these risks. Given the high risks associated with the weather, and our inability to reduce the risks, we cannot proceed with the event. The health and […]

March 7, 2018 Daniel Woodburn

Are you experiencing Hyde Park relay withdrawal symptoms after the “beast from the east” cruelly led to the cancellation (or rather hopeful postponement) of the 2018 edition last Saturday? Then you’re in luck: UCL is organising a 50k bleep test in the very same location this Saturday, March 10th. Consisting of 10 five-kilometre laps, this event might not appear to be for the faint of heart at first sight. However, the objective is not to run 50 kilometres so much as to last as long as you can. Each […]

Sir Roger Bannister dies aged 88

March 4, 2018 James Findon

Sir Roger Bannister, the first person to run a mile in under four minutes, has died at the age of 88. Sir Roger, who was knighted in 1975, had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease since 2011. The challenge of running one mile in four minutes was considered impossible by many experts. So when Bannister achieved it, at Iffley Road track in Oxford, it was described as the Everest of athletics. His record stood for just 46 days. Arch-rival, John Landy ran 3:57.4 in Finland to set up a much-anticipated clash between […]

Running to recovery – beating my eating disorder.

March 1, 2018 Catriona Rennison

I’ve tried to keep it positive, but please don’t read it if you think it may be triggering. At the bottom is a list of helplines and support resources if you, or anyone you know, is struggling. “You are lucky to be here”. […]
