BUCS and English Cross-Country Champion, Jess Judd will not run in the ‘A’ race at BUCS Outdoor Championships.

Competition rules require a road or track 5000m performance from within the last two years, which Judd does not have. She will run in the ‘B’ race instead.

The Loughborough University student and Sky Scholar, who won a bronze medal at the 2011 World Youth Championships and a silver medal at the 2012 World Junior Championships, took to Twitter to express her frustration.

Judd is able to the race in the 5000m due to having raced in Parkrun recently. She completed the Chelmsford Central course in a time of 16.23. However, BUCS considers all Parkrun results as the slowest PB’s and therefore athletes are placed in the ‘B’ race.

She also has a 3000m time (9.11) and 1500m time (4:12.45), but neither are accepted for 5000m entry.

Speaking to LUCA, Jess said: “I’m disappointed but nothing more can be done so I’m just excited to race and see how it goes!

Judd can still win the BUCS title if she runs quickest out of both races.

“I have no pressure and just hope the weekend goes well! Just excited to race now”

BUCS were not available to comment.
