Barts take Bannister cup, results from UL Championship

Wimbledon Common once again saw the University of London Cross-Country championships and Bannister Cup take place, on 15/11/17, the last LUCA XC League race of 2017. On what was a dreary, muddy course Philippa Bowden of Brunel once again stormed to victory in the women’s individual race with a time of 16:49, ahead of Georgie Hartigan and Typhaine Christiaen of Saint Mary’s and LSE respectively. In the men’s individual, Saint Mary’s took 1st and 2nd again, with Daniel Jarvis and Liam Burthem leading the race, followed by Maximillian Nicholls of King’s. This leaves SMU A 50 points ahead of their closest competitor in the team league, on 2859 points to UCL’s 2809. In the women’s team league, Imperial A still hold the lead over UCL, but that lead has been cut 11 points, and with only 9 point gap between the two, the next two fixtures will be seen as crucial.

More importantly, this was the UL championships. Maximillian Nicholls won the men’s individual competition for King’s, and Typhaine Christiaen took the women’s individual for LSE. UCL won all three of the team competitions, beating King’s by 10 points in the men’s and women’s, but only by two points in the mixed teams.
