Lateefah Agberemi’s dominant display in the sprints and jumps earned King’s a second successive indoors title. King’s pipped Imperial to the title by 13 points, with 16 points coming from Agberemi. The joint record points haul (tied with LSE’s Yasmin Lakin in 2016-17) earned Agberemi the prestigious LUCA MVP award along with gold medals in the 60m, 60mH, long and triple jump. St George’s extended their grip on the UH Shield, boosted by strong performances by Jennifer Nandi who picked up gold in the 1500m and 3000m. St George’s have […]

Well done to all who competed at Lee Valley last weekend. Results are now available on Power of 10, or click on the link below! We are hoping to be able to put on another meet this year with the new committee members, we will announce any further updates ASAP and the current team standings ahead of the meet so each club knows what they’ll need to go for gold (Dina’s got us in that Olympic spirit already!).
At an extraordinary general meeting held last week, club representatives voted to make changes to the committee and competition structure. LUCA has been dealing with a budget crisis caused by pandemic-related competition suspension and a steep decline in active volunteers. The EGM was called by the only two currently active committee members, Christian Pugsley and Abhilash Sivaraman. Attendees agreed on the need to focus on the core offer of the Cross Country League, Indoor Championships and a potentially stripped-down outdoor series. There was much debate about the potential to reduce […]

As the New Year is well and truly underway, it can only mean one thing: an overdue LUCA piece. After a quiet few weeks after indoors we’re straight back into the thick of it, with events coming thick and fast. But first, let’s have a look back at the tail end of last year, mainly because I didn’t write anything at the time, but also to refresh our memories of the LUCA XC League situation. Wimbledon Common XC The start of autumn term is hectic for XC racers; 3 […]
Mitcham Common played host to the second round of the LUCA XC series last Wednesday, with almost 200 students making the journey south to tackle a deceptively tricky course. Fast ground lay in wait but with some nasty short climbs it would not be the pancake course many would have hoped for after Parli Hill. Thankfully some sun appeared with the runners to give a distinctly autumnal feel to proceedings. After a hotly contested first race, it was Imperial and St Mary’s who set the early pace and this was […]
