LUCA Community Cup
Celebrating the clubs that power university athletics
The LUCA Community Cup is our new year-long competition that recognises the clubs who go above and beyond to build, support, and grow the university athletics community.
It’s not about how fast you run or how high you jump, it’s about the impact your club makes across four key areas:
1. Volunteering & Event Support
From officiating and marshalling to helping LUCA events run smoothly behind the scenes—your time and effort keeps the sport alive.
2. Outreach, Development & Engagement
Whether it’s welcoming beginners, hosting joint sessions, or making your club more inclusive, we reward clubs who work to expand and enrich the athletics community.
3. Social Media & Promotion
Clubs earn points for promoting LUCA events, telling your stories, and spreading the word about university athletics in creative and engaging ways.
4. Club Development
We recognise clubs that invest in their long-term growth—whether that’s building partnerships, developing committee members, or improving access to training and resources.
How it works
Clubs earn points across the year for activity in each of the four categories. Club captains log their activities via an online form. Points are allocated according to a tariff and activities are validated by LUCA.
At the end of the season awards night, the club with the most points in each category are awarded a prize. The club with the most points is crowned LUCA Community Cup Winner.
Why it matters
The Community Cup exists to celebrate the work that often goes unseen – the hours of volunteering, the inclusive socials, the Instagram posts, the creative ideas, the care.
Together, you’re not just running a club.
You’re building a movement.
