LUCA is entering a consultation phase as we take steps towards becoming a registered charity. This is a major milestone in LUCA’s development, aimed at strengthening our organisation for the long term and supporting our mission to promote student athletics across London and the South East.
Why This Matters
Since its founding, LUCA has been a volunteer-led federation focused on delivering inclusive and competitive athletics opportunities. Becoming a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) would allow us to:
- Access new funding streams such as grants and donations
- Strengthen governance and accountability
- Build financial resilience to support long-term planning
- Deliver more impactful initiatives, aligned with our Vision 2030 goals
We want to ensure this change reflects the needs and views of our member clubs. That’s why we’re inviting all stakeholders to take part in a consultation before finalising our application to the Charity Commission.
Proposed Governance Model
The proposed structure includes a Board of Trustees who will oversee LUCA’s strategic direction and legal responsibilities, while the Executive Committee and organising Committee’s continue to run day-to-day operations and competitions.
We aim to keep the structure streamlined, with clear roles and a continued focus on supporting clubs and athletes.
We will soon open recruitment for trustees.
