LUCA is consulting on becoming a registered charity.

We’re excited to announce that LUCA is consulting on the transition to become a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). This would be a major step in LUCA’s growth and future, and one that can strengthen how we serve our student clubs, athletes, and university partners.

💡 Why is LUCA considering becoming a charity?

Over the past decade, LUCA has grown from a small idea into a student-led federation of 20 university athletics clubs, delivering some of the UK’s most dynamic university athletics events.

Becoming a charity will:

  • ✅ Strengthen LUCA’s governance and transparency
  • 🧭 Create a formal structure for long-term sustainability
  • 💷 Unlock new funding and partnership opportunities
  • 🏃‍♀️ Help LUCA reach and support more students – especially those from underrepresented backgrounds

🔍 What does this mean for clubs and students?

For most clubs and athletes, nothing will change day-to-day. You’ll still take part in the same events, leagues, and championships – with the same energy, same people, and same LUCA spirit.

But behind the scenes, we’re building stronger foundations.
