The LUCA Cross-Country League (previously known as the LCL) is London’s historic cross-country league for universities in London. Held across five races over two terms, students compete for individual and team success.
The league gives students the chance to race in some of London’s finest parks and measure their improvement over the season … and the years.
Students of the University of London are expected to compete for their college team. Students without a college team may enter on behalf of the University of London.
Races are typically 5k (two laps) for women and 8k (three laps) for men. All races are held on a Wednesday at 3pm

- We assign points to individuals and calculate team scores
Advice for team captains
- Encourage your members to sign up here well before the race. You can find a list of your athletes ID numbers by going to your club’s directory.
- We will bill you towards the end of the season dependent on the amount of athletes you field (See below)
The LUCA Cross Country league is one of the UK’s cheapest XC leagues. You don’t pay per athlete or per race. Instead, clubs are billed at the end of the season for the amount of athletes that represented them.
|Tier 1||At least two full teams of each gender||£150|
|Tier 2||At least one full men’s (5) and one full women’s team or more||£100|
|Tier 3||Less than one full team of each||£75|
|Tier 4||5 athletes or less||£45|
For example, if RVC enter one women’s team (<5 athletes) who compete in each of the 5 races, they will pay £45 at the end of the season. If King’s enter two gents and two ladies teams in each race, they will be charged £150. If RHUL enter one full ladies team but only two gents, they will be charged £75.
Fee’s may rise in 2017/18.
For full rules and regulations, please see here (2015).
Races are typically 4k (one lap) for women and 8k (two laps) for men.
