Match 2 – Lee Valley – Saturday 16th April 2022

Welcome to the Outdoor Series 2022! It is with great excitement we can announce the first meet, scheduled for April 16th 2022 at Lee Valley, combined with the London Inter Club Challenge (LICC). This partnership allows us to host an event with a greater range of competition and extend our field events to include both pole vault and hammer for experienced athletes.

In previous years we have held 3 meets over the season, the first being in March, the second in April, with the finale classically held at Battersea Park in May. Due to many factors we have had to cancel the first meet, but are excited to host the second, with the aim to organise a third after our upcoming EGM on April 11th.

Event Description (from 2020 – due to lack of entries the multi-event challenge will not be held in 2022)

The second match features the return of the multi-event challenge. Get a taste for multi-event sport by competiting in a selection of decathlon and heptathlon events for men and women respectively; a sprint race, a middle distance race, a jump and a throw. Scores are calculated using official IAAF score tables and added up across the four events. Medals are awarded on the day!

Combining with the LICC means that this competition has been granted a Level 2 permit by UKA. As always, the series stands a fantastic opportunity for those looking to try out athletics events for the first time as well as those looking to improve their times, heights or distances.

Don’t forget Alumni are welcome at our events and can compete as part of our Alumni Club – Motspur AC – find out more here.

Entry Fee:

LUCA Clubs: £6 per athlete per event, £15 per relay

Guests: £8 per athlete per event, £15 per relay

Multi-event challenge pricing will be 4 events for the price of 3. You only need to pay for these events once and athletes score in both the events individually and the championship event.

Entries will open on 26th March 2022.

Entries must be submitted to hello@london-athletics.com by the team captain. The Entry Deadline is midnight Thursday 7th April.

Events offered at the Lee Valley Match (tbc re points for 2022)

Some events shall be combined with LICC competitiors, who will provide a greater depth of competition, but will not score for LUCA. As a one-off, we are able to offer both Hammer Throw and Pole Vault. However, for safety reasons we can only allow experienced athletes to compete: athletes therefore must have a Power of 10 performance in these events to compete. Note also that Hammer and Pole Vault will not score points towards the team standings.

Championship Event (tbc for 2022):

Multi-Event Challenge – Compete in four events to gain points for the ultimate all-round athlete title. This is a championship event, so medals are available and will be presented on the day! Not only that, but athletes will also score for the four events separately, so there are even more points on offer!
