The race, held at Bushy Park, took place on the 1st March 2017 and enjoyed a good turn-out of athletes from across the LUCA member clubs. It was agreed beforehand that the men and women’s races would be the same distance, which was set to 5km as a speed challenge for the cross-country runners.

Students raced well on the flat and relatively mud-less course, leading to an abundance of quick times. In the women’s results, Lily Coward of St Mary’s paced the race well to finish first with a time of 17:17; followed by Hannah Viner of King’s, then Emma Dixon of RVC. In the men’s race, the top three finishers were Ellis Cross, Dan Jarvis & Emile Cairess; all of St Mary’s, as were 9 of the top 10 places.

Meanwhile, for the team results, St Mary’s dominated on their home ground, with both their women’s and men’s A teams coming first. In the women’s, they were followed by UCL then St Mary’s II, whilst in the men’s, the St Mary’s II and III teams were in second and third place, respectively.

The awards ceremony was held after the race at St Mary’s Union.
