Indoor Champs round up

December 7, 2018 Jack Dickenson

Last Saturday, LUCA descended on Lee Valley for what promised to be another fantastic Indoor Championships, with 236 athletes entered across the board. Incorporating both the University of London and United Hospitals Championships within the overall LUCA Champs, the day saw a range of excellent performances throughout, as well as some unexpected results. Brunel had never won a LUCA title before and it was widely expected that the fight for the David Morgan Cup would be between the much larger universities of UCL (37 athletes) and King’s (33). However, a team […]

Why I ran the New Forest Marathon dressed as a rhino

November 21, 2018 Seth Kennard

If you take a look at the news at the moment you could be forgiven for thinking that you’re watching repeats or recordings of unwelcome news. Famines and earthquakes, riots and strikes and politicians fill the airwaves with dreary tidings. There are several ways you can respond to such as stimuli; you could: a) stop watching the news and watch children’s cartoons instead, or b) do something about it.  After experiencing first hand the effects of rhino poaching after conducting a post mortem on a deceased rhino, I, as part […]

A nasty bacterial infection, it can result in hearing loss, kidney problems, loss of limbs, and in extreme cases, death. Freshers are now vaccinated against 4 bacterial strains, and there are ample […]

Two marathons in two weather extremes in one week

April 24, 2018 James Findon

By Richard Sun, PhD student, QMUL. I love running and sometimes I have crazy idea, such as to do back-to-back marathons, and the two marathons are two of the bests in the world, Boston and London. Throwback to April of last year, I did my first sub-3 hours marathon in Manchester and qualified for Boston and London (Good for Age). Though there is only a 6-day gap between the two marathons, I signed up both because I couldn’t wait. The Boston Marathon is the world’s oldest annual marathon which begun […]

On returning to the venue where they beat King’s in a convincing varsity performance last month, UCL president Henry Murdoch said “UCL are undefeated at athletics over the […]
